Ages 3-5. This class provides young dancers an energetic and upbeat introduction to breakdance and hip hop grooves. In a safe, structured, and supportive class environment, dancers will gain coordination and confidence through freestyling, playing games, and learning combinations to fun, age-appropriate songs. Little ones will learn breakdance fundamentals like toprock, freezes, and footwork and develop their sense of rhythm, community, and self.

Creative Ballet

Calendar at 5 pm, runs for 1 week
Ages 5-6. Starting with the foundations we learned in Playful Dance, this class gives growing students a chance to expand their horizons and abilities. With each new skill, they will strengthen their confidence, control, alignment, agility, musicality, self-awareness, and ability to collaborate. As the class progresses through the school year, students will be introduced to the ballet barre and learn basic choreography tools. Students will also explore how ballet learning can apply outside the classroom.

Dance Together

Calendar at 3:30 pm, runs for 1 week
Ages 18mo-3years with a caretaker. This class offers tiny dancers and their caregivers the opportunity to move, make music, and experience community. Each week, we will practice movement skills and explore a new dance concept together, (through the lens of the season’s theme) building both strong muscles and inter-personal connections. Classes maintain a comfortable structure and routine week to week, paired with exciting multi-sensory activities to stimulate brain and body development. 

Formative Ballet

Calendar at 4:15 pm, runs for 1 week
Ages 7-9. Dancers in Formative Ballet build a foundational understanding of correct ballet technique and alignment through the lens of what is safe for each dancer’s body. This class combines traditional ballet forms with creative dance concepts in a welcoming community to help students cultivate and deepen their sense of artistry, self-confidence and social connection. Students will practice at the barre, center, and across the floor and have the opportunity to learn, create, and perform choreography. 

Formative Breakdance

Calendar at 5 pm, runs for 1 week
Ages 6-9. Breakdance is a strong and demanding urban dance style that originated in the early 1970s in New York City, and evolved as it spread throughout the world. Students in this class will expand their knowledge of foundational breakdance skills like toprock, footwork, freezes, and introductory power moves, deepen their sense of body awareness and rhythm through freestyling, and learn routines that encourage confident self-expression.

Formative Modern

Calendar at 5:15 pm, runs for 1 week
Ages 7-9. Students in Formative Modern are given the tools of modern dance vocabulary and concepts so that they can access their own freedom of expression. This class introduces dancers to the history and fundamentals of American modern dance, which was founded in rejecting the strict forms of ballet in favor of a more natural and human way of moving. As the year progresses, students will incorporate spatial awareness, musicality, and community collaboration as the learn how to communicate emotions, ideas, and stories through movement.

Playful Dance

Calendar at 4:15 pm, runs for 1 week
Ages 3-4. Through active, imaginative, and multi-sensory play, young dancers in this class develop dance skills, coordination, strength, and stability. Students will become more confident in the basics and be introduced to more complex movement patterns along with ballet-based vocabulary as the year progresses. Creative dance activities encourage dancers to learn and grow in a safe and collaborative classroom community.
